Omàmiwinini (Bonnechere Algonquin) on Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ First Nation unceded territory creating original art in acrylics, linocut and Sharpie markers. Member of the Indigenous Arts Collective of Canada.
I live and work on the ocean; most of my art reflects my experiences with the creatures living above and below the surface. I love showing people the things that live here; but mostly I love making them care about how important our oceans are. I am proud to be a woman working in the male dominated marine industry as the Captain of a vessel; supported and encouraged by my peers. I am constantly amazed and humbled by the Creator’s beauty, and I am focused on creating bold, colourful work showcasing the aquatic life I encounter.
